Happy Birthday post #2

Em got eight new chicks for the farm. Abby, Beth, and Emma decided to name most of them: Sunnyside Up, Hugo, Omlet, and Sam (thats all I remember). Thank you to Emma, Beth, and Abby (it seems that Em isn't as creative as those three, she named her new goat that Uncle John gave her Emily).
The great thing about trick candles is they offer the picture taker the opportunity to get a great shot.
Getting ready to eat her pig ribs

At this moment the only song running through my brain is "Sunrise, Sunset" from fiddler on the roof. What a great day!

Happy Birthday Em!

Sunday we celebrated Em's 7th Birthday..... This is Em's cake, I was frightened when I first saw it because it had pink frosting but lucky me, she didn't even notice.
This is Em's favorite feast. At her request we had pig ribs, little smokies, g'ma sugars pasta salad, and cowboy beans. As you can see, thats all she ate. (sidenote on the ribs: Jeff made the sauce and rub and from scratch. From what I hear, they were delish).

And this is the Birthday girl after her shower jumping on the bed in her new shark jams and awesome Australia horse socks. She actually wore those socks three days in a row (with capris mind you) and I had to force her to take them off to wash them. Needless to say they were a hit (Thank you aunt Jen Jen).

The girl who loved to fish......

So I caught Em and Braxton catching fish from the aquarium and putting them in the tap filled sink. Now, having an aquarium takes a little bit of maintenance. I test for ammonia, chlorine, and other chemicals monthly, it has to be just right for the fish to thrive. The one thing I learned is to NEVER use straight tap water. Maybe this is why all our fish are dropping like flies.

I requested that Em say the eulogy for a few of them before I flushed, it went a little like this:
"Heavenly Father, please help our fish have a good time on their way to the sewer, amen."

Public Transportation

So we took the new Frontrunner this Wednesday evening to SLC to meet Jeff and have some dinner. Family Fun at its finest. Let me make this clear....I am not a fan of public transportation when 1. its free, and 2. it involves the public. We arrived thinking we would get a seat (we even thought we'd get one on top, Ha!) and have a pleasurable ride. It was packed like sardines and most of the seats were taken up by either 3 year olds or teenagers, not a one of them willing to give up their seat for the old man standing beside me or the pregnant lady squished between me and the kids. I learned my lesson....Free public transportation=the communities finest. Well, at least dinner was good.

My weekend.....

So this weekend was a so/so one, Saturday was fun at the farm but then Sunday rolls around and I started to dread my motherhood. This being because Em "thought" she might have diarrhea. I have a new name for her....Dramily (she was sooooo dramatic and I can't go into much detail because she reads this blog but if you have ever been around her when she "thinks" she might throw up its pretty much the same nightmare). Anyway, I was grateful for school this morning and while I was showering I thought of a few things I just hate hearing.....

"moooom, I'm ready for you to wipe me!"

"Mooooom, I'm hungry" (10 minutes after dinner)

"Jason told me to" (its profound that an imaginary friend has more power then the woman who pushed you from her loins)

"how do you know?" (who the heck cares how I know, just do it!)

"mom! Maggie poo'd downstairs again"

and last but not least....

"honey, I'm going to be late"

I can't WAIT!

This is what I got in the mail yesterday.................pretty neat huh?Its even better when you turn it over....
I mean seriously, could you see me using this? Picture this: there is a long line to use the b.room at Wally World, in I run with my cheecks clenched tight flashing my card. It'd be the joke of the day! I think the only time I'll pull this baby out is if I get pulled over for speeding.

Flowers anyone?

Some moms love roses, others love jewels. Me? I'm a dandelion kind of mom (acording to Em).

Home, home on the range....

This weekend was full of adventures with livestock. Yup, we up and got ourselves some chickens, cows, and possibly a horse or two. Now, this is not my adventure, I'm happy with a weiner dog that likes to sleep all day. This is all Jeff and my little brother who we like to call Son. They just can't sit on a 5 acre field you see, it has to be full of farm animals. I'm just thanking the mighty Lord that I don't live close to them. So if you see Jeff roaming the neighborhood in overalls and a tin hat, just nod a "how do" and call it a day.

Favorite picture of the day

This is Bret and Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords. I know not many of you watch this show but it is my all time favorite and they just announced a second season, yay!!!

Jones Square

As most of you know, we are installing a pond in out back yard. This is a pre-pond post-dig picture:
As you can see, Jeff has a helper at hand whenever needed, all hours
And that is why we had to buy him this wheelbarrow (but I'm posting this mostly for the outfit. Nice boots).

We found Nito!!!

As many of you know, we lost Emily's horse Nito. Not lost as in he's up in horsey heaven, lost literally. I have searched the phone book, internet, and hassled everyone I know in the horse community. I even had a one on one with Heavenly Father, begging him to help Em either get over her heartbreak or help me find our four legged friend. Well today in Wal-Mart a familiar face caught my eye. I made a quick U-turn and chased Hailey down like a frantic mother trying to please her middle child. We found where Nito is staying and we just returned from a tear filled reunion (I was the one in tears, you see I don't have to listen to her wail when she is sad "Niiiiittttoooooooooooooooooooooo, I miiiiissss you!" now I can just drive her over the the field and dump her with her horse). What is even stranger than strange is that Hailey is looking for somewhere to place Nito because the field he is in is no longer available. And guess who has 5 empty acres in South Weber, just waiting for a horse?

Gao

Garrett has been able to write his name for a little while, he learned how to make a "moon with a seat" for his letter G. The only problem is that after he gets done with the "A" he writes an "O" which in his mind represents "rrett". Emily is greatly bugged by this as she knows that it is incorrect and in Emily's mind incorrectness is a no-no (hmmmm.....could that be Jeff showing through in her genes?).

as a little side note please don't call Garrett "Gao". That is unless you want to see a tantrum ensue.

Not another one!

(this top image was added after the inital post. Gilly fell asleep as I was cooking dinner about 10 minutes ago. At least my counter was clean)
I know everyone is thinking that all I do is post pictures of Gilly sleeping but honestly, its my favorite. Its like he will just crash in the middle of whatever ball game he is playing and I love these moments.

Activity Days

One thing I love about Abby being 9 is that she gets to go to Activity Days. This week they did up-do's. She loved it! (which is kind of sad because I will never be able to do something so intricate)

Sisterly love

The other day I walked into my bedroom where Em was watching her favorite Dinosaur show to find this scene. Em was a little upset that Gilly was too close, in fact he was touching, the worst sin possible when you are 6.
